“The First Hunan Talent Forum” was recently held, with Provincial Party Secretary Xiaoming Shen and Governor Weiming Mao in attendance. The event drew over 800 high-level talents from around the world. Five experts — Nobel laureate Dan Shechtman, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Boyun Huang, Shenzhen University President Junfa Mao, Qi An Xin Group Chairman Xiangdong Qi, and Cambridge University Professor Teng Long— delivered talks on global technology trends, innovation, and frontier achievements, offering advice on building Hunan into a hub for innovative talent.

Teng Long said in his speech: “The value of scientific research lies in its application. Researchers should have the courage to become entrepreneurs. In 2021, I founded EPIC, a company focused on power solutions for artificial intelligence. Whether for intelligent computing data centres or embodied AI robots, greater computing power requires more efficient, higher-density, and smarter power devices. EPIC is among the few global power module manufacturers setting industry benchmarks. Our products have delivered over 100 MW in total, achieving 2% higher efficiency than traditional solutions and saving at least 200 million kWh of electricity annually. The company is regarded as a potential unicorn and has created more than 60 jobs across China, the UK, and the US.”As an innovation leader in power technology, EPIC places great emphasis on technological progress and talent development, striving to build a world-class R&D team, in line with the talent philosophy advocated by the conference.
